Fading Forest is an interactive art installation created to express the acts of reforestation and deforestation in an artistic and abstract manner. One of the aims of the installation is for it to have a role in educating the participants through human and computer interactions.  The participants would walk into the room, greeted by a “network” of a tree’s molecular structure (lignin) that are interconnected together through the use of PVC pipes and joints, that envelope the participants within the room. The tree is set to randomly have forest fires, where all the lights in the molecules turn off and the surrounding screens turn red or getting cut down, where the several lights in the molecules turn off and the surrounding screens turn white. The participants can water the tree through flashing light to the photoresistor placed on the tree, which would change the colours of the molecules to blue and the surrounding screens turn blue. The participants can also replant a tree through touching a force-sensitive resistor, the effect will output a colour change to green.
